Day 2

Day 2 started exactly like day 1, we huddled, used the restroom, and got on the bus. The ride was long as usual. When we got there we dispersed into our groups and played some short games. We then started our assent up the mountain. The hike started off with a dead tree that was hovering over the trail. It was slightly raining for the first painful hour of hiking, then we got to the fun part, the steep slippery rocks. These went by so fast. We took a lot of breaks throughout the day but the longest one was almost at the top of Firescrew on a short ledge. I ate pretzels and an apple. Soon after our break we made it to the first false summit. It was very windy. We stopped for a little bit to try and find a view but it was really cloudy. We made it to about seventeen more false summits until we reached the actual summit. At the summit we found a couple of bogs but no animals. As we ate lunch there,we were lucky enough to catch a beautiful view.

A short time after that we started going down the saddle, which was very rocky and had a lot of mountain ash, we saw wind turbines. Before we knew it, we were on Cardigan and hiking up. The firetower was very close but seemed far away. After approximately ten minutes of climbing up a big rock we made it to the barren summit of Cardigan Mountain. We tried to trace a geo marker but failed because the summit was so windy. It was so windy, that we felt we could have been blown away. Mara (our leader) let us play in the wind for a little bit. We then had to carefully crawl the other side of the mountain until it wasn't so windy. We made it to a cabin and went to nature's bathroom. We continued to hike until we came across a ledge, there we timed Mr Woolder on his sketch of a tree. On our adventure down the mountain, we asked, ¨are we there yet¨ the whole time. Once we were close to the bottom, we stopped at a bridge, sketched maple leaves, and played games with them. Just when we were excited that we were done, we had to sketch a dragon plantain and a big ash tree. Finally we made it to the lodge and played extreme red light green light until the bus came. One of the groups was being slow so we had to wait for them. The group finally got on the bus. Mr Woolner took attendance and gave us his Swedish fish. Finally we took off.

I chose the theme movement for day 2 for a couple reasons. The theme movement shows/tells how things have/will move on the surface of the planet earth. There was a lot of running water too. We saw a lot of streams/ rivers that were moving from cardigan to the Atlantic Ocean.Day 2 was the day that we climbed up both the mountains. Due to all this hiking we were moving a lot which I think is a pretty good example of movement. Another reason why I chose movement for day two is that at the top of the cardigan we saw greyish streaks on the bare top that were created by a glacier many years ago. Mr Woolner then told us that they were an AMAZING example of the theme movement. A third reason is that he saw a lot of things that were moved there like the solar panels and the portable toilets. Lastly, we saw a couple of birds near the top of Firescrew. I think that because the birds were moving it would be an example of movement. To sum up everything that has been stated in this paragraph, on day two of our amazing trip to cardigan we saw a lot of movement.
